Going out on a limb here and just assuming there’s a good handful of designers that like The Velvet Underground. And if they don’t, they just suck.

Designers love to laugh… especially at their design-inferior co-workers.

Things Designers Like #IDon’tRemember: Folding Designs
Check out this awesome folding design created by VSA Partners. I have nothing creative or witty to say about this - just watch the video to learn more!
Insider Tip: It took well over 500 hours of hand folding to complete the task!
Quickly: I wanted to address that I recently found out there is another blog called “Stuff Designers Like”. Though the names are similar, I wanted to point out their blog is hosted by graphic designers (two of them in fact! that’s two more than this blog). My blog isn’t based off of fact - just assumption and a varying degree of sarcasm. I’m trying to find the balance, and while I do, enjoy the colors.
Things Designers Like: Color (Including, but not limited to: In general, Color Theory, Coloring Books)
I’ll post about their affinity for Black & White eventually, but this photo brought back memories of my college Color Theory course — in which I got a C. Now’s not the time to explain my (obvious) color limitations, but it is worth mentioning that since then, I realized the complexity of “color”. (Seriously, I can’t really remember why I did so poorly. I did love the coloring part though.) Anyway, mad props to all the D’s out there who think about color so I can take it for granted later.

Things Designers Like #15: Design + Wit
Ah, everyone likes a good play on words, especially when it looks so good.

Things Designers Like #13: Negative Space
Negative Space may seem like (or literally be) nothing to you, but you’d be positively wrong. Some designers play with the negative space to give it more presence or draw attention to it, (like this photo), but every designer takes it into consideration for each composition. It’s arguably one of the most important “nothings” in the world - or at least that’s what designers will tell you.
Things Designers Like #12: Cats (and this video)
But is it really fair to limit this obsession to just designers? No. Am I going to add it to the list on assumption? Yes.
I’ve come to the conclusion that designers love nothing more than turning the written word, facts, numbers and ideas into one easy to digest design commonly known as the “Infographic”. I like to imagine that this is how they see the world at all times.
Things Designers Like #11: Watching Videos in their Entirety
I think the above video is great - but I would love this video 100 times better if it were 2 minutes instead of 6. I think there’s some correlation between designer’s love of dedication and the time they put into that interactive post from a while ago, but I don’t have the time to make that right now.
